Kim Linnell

MDCS INTERN 2021-2022

I decided to pursue a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling after twenty-five years of working in school and university settings as an advisor and teacher to immigrants and international students. My work in multicultural settings has trained me to see life from another’s perspective and to be an advocate for those on the margins. I apply these skills to the therapeutic process by creating a warm, welcoming, and comfortable atmosphere for my clients. Given how important trust and connection are to positive therapeutic outcomes, I take the time to understand you and the problems that you bring to therapy before embarking on a treatment plan that best suits your needs and goals. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavior therapy and family systems theory. As a life-long learner, I am constantly seeking opportunities to grow in my therapeutic skills in order to serve you better.  I am a trained spiritual director in addition to being an intern at Maria Droste and a graduate student (expecting to graduate with my Masters in Mental Health Counseling in May 2022). I look forward to joining you on your journey towards healing, wellness, and growth.
