Stacey Campbell

Director of Operations, intake specialist

After a lengthy career in the private sector followed by 10 years as a stay at home mom, I decided it was time to re-enter the workforce in the not for profit world. Hired by our late former Director, Sr. Lorraine Bernier in 2012, I knew I was on a new path, one that was going to be more than just a job. This was going to be different, exciting and gratifying! I wear many hats and oversee the day-to-day operations of our staff. I work directly with our Executive Director, Board of Directors and various committees that support our mission. I have found within myself skills I didn’t know I possessed, one of which – I am told – is having a keen sense of people. This compliments my dual role as intake specialist, offering reassurance to callers who are in crisis or who walk in distressed seeking help. I welcome my role and my gifts and I see how my ability to treat others with compassion resonates with our mission.

Michael Shanahan, M.Div., LMFT

Executive Director, Outpatient Therapist

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, trained in mediation and spiritual direction and have been working with clients in the field of mental health for nearly 30 years.

I have spent my adult life learning how to articulate and live with a profound intuitive sense of myself and life around me while grounded in a body with thoughts and feelings shaped by ego awareness and conditioning in both its positive and challenging aspects and consciously choosing to honor a life stance that is heart-centered and spiritually focused.

Practically speaking, I hold in high regard, as best I can, all those with whom I relate—beginning with my family and extending outward to coworkers, neighbors, and ultimately all of humanity. I believe we are all connected, and, at our core, we are one human family.

I work with couples and families as well as individuals. The foundation for healing begins with a solid therapeutic relationship built on trust, rapport, and mutual respect. By listening carefully to a client’s concerns and “taking-in” who they are, how they live, and what matters to them, we then work together to uncover elusive psychological distress and any disquiet that cause symptomatic attitudes and behaviors that do not serve the client well nor honor who they are. I see each client within the context of their family system, as well as the broader cultural and societal systems that shape their experience.

I treat a wide range of mental health issues including depression and anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, anger management, and the effects of both covert and overt emotional or physical abuse. I also support clients exploring life-direction and spiritual-path questions.

A key part of my work is helping clients build and maintain healthy boundaries in their relationships.

My overall goal as a therapist is to support a client’s sense of themselves as capable and gifted, so that relationships with the important people in their lives become more authentic and enjoyable. I tell my clients to allow a therapist 2 sessions: if you don’t feel a connection or that anything is happening after two sessions, find another therapist!
